Our recent participation in the Dutch Food Safety Event Amersfoort organized by VMT magazine marked a valuable step in fostering dialogue around the evolving landscape of food safety and certification.
A key highlight of the event was a thought-provoking panel discussion titled “Certification & Standards,” where industry leaders and experts shared their perspectives on the challenges and opportunities within the food certification ecosystem.
Panel Highlights
The discussion featured our CEO, Aldin Hilbrands, alongside a distinguished lineup of speakers:
- Miran Ismael (European Certification Center for Halal)
- Roos de Roo (RedCow Food Consultancy)
- Ard van der Woude (Précon)
- Ijsbrand Velzeboer (Scienta Nova)
In his opening statement, Aldin set the tone for the discussion with this perspective:
The uniform management system standard ISO 22000 is globally accepted for food safety and simplifies the certification process to FSSC 22000.Aldin Hilbrands, FSSC CEO
This remark spurred a dynamic conversation about:
- The dynamics between certifying bodies and food companies.
- Balancing sustainability and food safety.
- Making food safety culture measurable and promoting it.
- Striking a balance between sustainable food production and manageable certification processes.
The session provided valuable insights into how the food industry can navigate the complexities of certification while addressing future challenges with innovation and collaboration.
We extend our gratitude to all the speakers, participants, and organizers who made this event a success.
